With dozens of medals hanging from his neck, Carlos Yulo adds an Olympic gold to his name—making him the second Filipino Olympian gold medallist

Filipino Olympic gymnast, Carlos Yulo has made history with a monumental win at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Seeking redemption after placing 4th at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, he has made well on his promise to bring home gold. His outstanding performance in the Men’s Floor Exercise has him besting seven other athletes from Spain, China, the United Kingdom, Ukraine, Israel, and Kazakhstan. With a score of 6.600 for difficulty, 8.400 in execution, and no penalties, Yulo has scored a total of 15.000 points. His recent training in Lilleshall, England, has definitely paid off, as he has shown off his artistic flair on a global stage.

Immediately after landing from a triple turn, Yulo pumped his fists in the air in excitement. Some fans are already calling him the greatest Filipino gymnast of all time—a weighty and deserved title that he certainly lives up to. Not only is he the first Filipino gymnast to win an Olympic medal, but he's also the first male Southeast Asian gymnast to medal at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.

Yulo's golden opportunity isn't over as he'll be competing against Ukraine, the United Kingdom, Croatia, Iran, and Armenia in the Men's Gymnastics Vault Finals tonight at 10 pm.
